Product Owner, Business Intelligence
The Business Intelligence Product Owner oversees the value generated by the product, collaborating with stakeholders and end users to comprehend their needs, prioritize them, and convert them into product backlogs. They actively participate in designing product features and work closely with agile teams for backlog execution. Product Owners, in coordination with experts, ensure that product operations align with the value proposition and maintain planned levels of deployment. They guide teams to understand end user and stakeholder needs, providing timely feedback.
Product Owners monitor KPIs, including operational performance and lifecycle costs, taking corrective actions as necessary. They apply agile and DevOps principles to maximize lifecycle value and accelerate benefit realization. Regular feedback from stakeholders helps identify areas for product functionality and operational improvements. Additionally, the product owner ensures the implementation of security measures to safeguard data and information flow within the solution.
Our KTI locations are Espoo and Hyvinkää, and your primary work location can be either Espoo or Hyvinkää. However, we provide flexible working hours and ample remote work opportunities.
Main responsibilities
- Product Planning & Prioritization
- Responsible of quarterly planning activities with stakeholders and business owners to align IT initiatives with business priorities.
- Responsible of working with stakeholders to define the product roadmap, prioritize features, and improvements to maximize value from product investments through the product life cycle.
- Product Agile Development Execution
- Accountable & Responsible for collecting and clarifying the needs of stakeholders and target users, translating them into actionable product backlogs. In this process, take responsibility for or contribute to product functional and/or technical designs, where applicable.
- Guides team members where needed, on functional and/or technical matters. Takes help from the key members in the team, as needed. Collaborates with other agile teams to plan the dependencies and joint development.
- Accountable and responsible for prioritized product backlogs Agile execution with the DevOps team, having mindset of caring the product roadmaps, OKRs and lifecycle needs. Apply incremental and iterative development and learning driven development principles.
- Responsible of identifying and highlighting the risks and dependencies in a timely manner, responsible of building a minimum required governance mechanisms and effectively mitigate the risk and minimize/or remove the dependency.
- Apply agile and DevOps principles to maximize the flow of value and responsiveness. Uses feedback loops to understand stakeholder and user needs and use that knowledge while planning and executing.
- Product Operations and Performance
- Accountable for ensuring that the product operations in deployed environments are planned in-line with the product value proposition, current target users, Deployment environments and IT level operations strategy. Ensure that the plans are fit-for-purpose and are updated to ensure continuity when there are changes to these aspects.
- Accountable & Responsible for setting up the overall product performance KPIs and targets, including for operations and IT activities related to benefit realization. Responsible for regularly following the KPIs and communicating them to key stakeholders.
- Accountable to ensure that the product operations and performance are as planned, and timely corrective actions are taken when needed. Follow and address technical debt in the product to ensure continued and sustained operations.
- Stakeholder Support
- Responsible for supporting the relevant stakeholders in the deployment of implemented features.
- Responsible for following the product usage and the changes to the target user base and ensure that product operations are accordingly adjusted.
- Where applicable, accountable to provide necessary guidelines and instructions to stakeholders to use the products and ensure that the instructions are followed.
- Product Lifecyle
- Responsible for managing the financial aspects of the product lifecycle taking the Total cost of ownership across the lifecycle into account- including development costs, license costs, run costs etc.
- Promotes continuous improvement to the product and ways of working within the agile team. Actively contributes to development initiatives within own tribe and department.
- Responsible for development vendor & contract management
- Travel on site to meet global function’s stakeholders whenever needed.
Requirements for the role
- Min 5 years’ experience in BI product management and development as product owner, product designer, solution owner, and/or development technical lead, with strong technical experience on Qlik Sense, and/or Power BI
- Strong understanding of data model.
- Solid experience on backlog management, using JIRA, capable of translate between business and technical viewpoints.
- Strong familiarity and experience with agile, DevOps ways of working and Value- driven prioritization and execution practices.
- Leading virtual matrix team with outstanding emotional intelligence skills, able to motivate team, remove the impediment, build excellent collaboration and psychological safe environment, champion for teamwork.
- Excellent team player, able to take/give feedback directly and improve ways of working & collaboration towards positive direction.
- Content understanding of major enterprise applications, and their architecture landscape relationship with BI (Qlik SaaS, Power BI), such as SAP, Salesforce, Workday, PDM, KTOC, KONECT, etc
- Practitioner level of experience on defining and measuring product KPIs effectively
- Deeply interested in BI solution development and continuous improvement, understand the KONE business context and IT context of BI analytics data and data product
- Excellent verbal and written communication in English, able to present content with clarity concisely.
